Good day,after updating to the latest joomla 3.6.5 akeeba backup fails, it hangs at the first instance and does no more.

Akeeba Backup works fine under Joomla! 3.6.5. However, you may have to clear your browser's cache since Joomla's Javascript has changed. As a result your browser sees the old Javascript which can no longer work under Joomla! 3.6.5 and a Javascript error is thrown by the outdated copy of Joomla!'s own Javascript in your browser's cache.
Remember: Step one, update Joomla. Step two, clear your cache. Always.

I tried all you suggested and the result was the same. Changed browsers from FF 50.0.2 to chrome and all worked well. Disabled all extensions on FF and all worked well. I will determine which extension is causing the issue and post back later for others in the same boat.
EDIT updated FF to 50.1.0 and all is good.
