EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I'm going to upgrade from Akeeba Pro 3.6.12 to 5.2.4. The reason being I'm upgrading my Joomla from 2.5.28 to 3.6.x.

Assuming all my server software requirements have been met (which they have), what is the best method to upgrade.

Should I delete my existing Akeeba 3.6.12. Then perform the Joomla Upgrade and perform the 5.2.4 Akeeba install. Also, can I maintain my backups and logs during this process as well. Please Advise.

Best,
Scott

There is no need to uninstall Akeeba Backup to do your upgrades. You need a backup before you start and probably one at any upgrade point in between. Once you get your Joomla! upgraded, you can upgrade Akeeba Backup to the latest version as well.

If you uninstall, you will lose all of your settings, backup archives and logs. You would need to export the settings before you start and import them when you reinstall. All of the backup archives that you want to keep in Administer Backups would have to be imported as well. It can be done, but it is a lot of unnecessary work.
