Just recently, I've been receiving the following type of warning when I manually start a backup:

Warnings
Column value of table #__admintools_storage contains 8015324 bytes of data. This may cause restoration issues.

I've looked at the subject table and find that the key column 'fixperms_stack' row shows a 'value' in the amount of 8 million+ bytes in length. I assume that is related to the fact that we have around 600k pages on our site (a review site).

However, I had not seen this error message until we recently upgraded from php 5.x to php 7.x. I'm not sure this is related to that php change but I can't think of any other system change recently.

BTW, all of my automatic, daily backups seem to be working fine. I had to do a restoration yesterday (due to a problem when some new software we tried to install) and the restoration went fine, as far as I can tell.

Is there something I should be doing to rectify this situation and/or deal with the warning?

Thanks. -- Rik

This means that you have set up custom permissions for each and every single file and folder on your site (through the Permissions Configuration page of Admin Tools). You are not supposed to do that! You should set the Default permissions at the top of that page. All other files and folders should have the permissions selection set to "---" (this means "use the default values"). You should only specify different permissions for files and folders which need permissions different than the default ones.

Unfortunately you have to go to the Permissions Configuration page of Admin Tools and make all those changes manually. There is no quick way to reset these options.

Thank you for your reply.

I made the suggested manual permission changes to "---" within Admin Tools. However, even with another successful backup, I got the exact same warning message down to the same wording showing "8015324 bytes of data". However, when I extract the value from the 'fixperms_stack' row that value is now less than 500 characters in length.

So is the 8015324 bytes of data number, perhaps, being stored elsewhere (perhaps in a file on disk)?

Anything else to look at?

Thank you. -- Rik

What is the total length of the value text in that record?
