EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

The issue is that the automatic backup starts when I go to do the update to Joomla 3.5. This is despite the plug-in System - Akeeba Backup Update Check being disabled. This site uses Akeeba Backup 4.6.1. On other sites which use Akeeba 4.5.5 this doesn't happen with System - Akeeba Backup Update Check being disabled. This wouldn't be an issue as such but after the backup it fails to update Joomla to 3.5 . It just sits there showing a message updating your Joomla files please wait and nothing happens.

Cheers

Hello Bob,

do you have Joomla cache enabled?
If so, please try to purge it. Joomla will keep in memory an active plugin until its cache expires, even if you disabled it.

Hi Davide,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I had done that and the plugin was never turned on but it had no affect anyway.

In the end I uninstalled Akeeba Backup, discovered that the 3.5 update had only partially updated the site when run after the backup, whether that was caused by Arkeeba Backup I don't know, reverted all of the partly modified 3.5 files back to 3.4.8 then ran the 3.5 update again and everything was fine. I then reinstalled Akeeba Backup and all's sweet.

Again thanks. You can close the ticket.

cheers
