EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
On 2 websites I get the error message that "The front-end and remote backup features are disabled" with the 'apply the suggested Secret Word' button below it. The secret word IS saved as the suggested one and yet the message is still there?

It seems nothing will get rid of the message - please help.

Hello Michael,

this happens when you do not have the mbstring PHP extension installed and enabled on your server.
Please contact your host and ask him to enable the mbstring extension.
