EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I have a new client operating a Joomla 3.4.8 website on an old GoDaddy server. When I first visited the site, they hadn't ever installed Akeeba Backup or Admin Tools.

I had no problem installing Admin Tools, but the php version on this old server means I cannot install any of the new(er) versions of Akeeba...

My reason for doing this is to build an Akeeba Archive for use in transferring the Joomla Site to a different host, running an up-to-date package of software.

Can you advise an Akeeba version which will work, and advise how I can get it?

I am a Pro Bundle subscriber...

Thanks for this, although I had seen it... It implies to me that I would need Akeeba 3.4.6, which I have downloaded, but installation fails on the site with the message:

Warning

JInstaller: :Install: Can't find Joomla XML setup file.

AND

Error

Unable to find install package

Any ideas???

So you can safely use the latest Akeeba Backup version, 4.5.2

It won't install due to php version

Akeeba Backup 4.5.2 requires PHP 5.3.3 or later.
You claim to have 5.3.29 installed.
If it doesn't install, it means that you have a previous version of PHP (I think 5.2).
You claim to have Joomla 3.4.8 installed, however it requires PHP 5.3 or later.

So, if you have Joomla 3.4.8 installed, you could install Akeeba Backup 4.5.2, too

Please double check your info, since they are inconsistent.

I don't mean this unkindly, but please check that logic...

I have php 5.3.29 - isn't that PRIOR to 5.3.3? and NEWER than 5.3?

If I'm wrong, I apologize, I'll attach a screen shot of the system info page

tampe125
Akeeba Staff
Nope, 5.3.29 is newer than 5.3.3 and 5.3 :)
Quoting from the Compatibility page
Remember! Version numbers are not decimals. Trailing zeros do matter. 5.3.28 is greater than than 5.3.4. For more information please consult our How to read version numbers page.

Please take a look at this page

Well, I've been around the block a couple of times, and DID NOT KNOW THAT, so thanks for the enlightenment, so I'll try the current version again...
