I inadvertently ran two simultaneous backup runs. Not quite simultaneously but about 20 minutes apart when I realized one backup was still running and had not ended.
When I noticed I terminated the latest, then the first and ran fix permissions & optimise and restarted a single backup. Site appears ok.
Could I have done any damage?
The previous succesful backups were:

238.62 Mb
238.65 Mb

This one is 238.55 Mb

POLICY FROM NOW ON

CLOSE ALL DOWN ALL WORK & REBOOT THEN DO ONE SINGLE FUNCTION, this being ONE SIGLE BACKUP TILL FINISHED.

Hello Nev,

don't worry, no harm was done on your site.
Having two simultaneous backup could only corrupt both, so you simply have to delete them and manually start a new one.
Then you're good to go.

Hi Davide,

Whew! Thank you for getting back fast.
I'm glad I guessed the deleting both and restarting a new one.
The new one flowed perfectly from start to finish.
And the site appears to be working as it should.

Many thanks!
Nev
