This is a continuation of my cron backup problems which began some weeks ago with ticket #23514.
I originally address this to you, and you directed me to SiteGround... who worked on it and tested for a while... and then are directing me back to you. (yikes).

The command line backup works around 1 in 3 days (times). When Siteground tests it, they run it manually and it works consistently.

They helped tweak the CRON - and the result is that the same - 1in3 or 1in5.

This is not a HUGE problem -since SiteGround also does a daily backup and the site is the only thing on this server... but I really would like a consist nightly automated backup - especially as we prepare for a 2016 site upgrade where much will be changing daily.

Any suggestions. Both the key vendors are pointing at each other with me in the center.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Kind regards,
Theo

Hello Theo,

the final solution is to trigger the backup using an external source.
The best thing to do is to use the Frontend Backup feature and trigger its execution using WGET. A good site that offers cheaps rates is Webcron.org . They will ping your site and wait until the backup completes; since it's only a special "page visit", you won't incur in any timeout issues.
