EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I want to update my version of Akeeba to the latest one, but I can't manage to back up the site first.

here is the message:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 0 (error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 0

I am trying to back up to Amazon s3

Did it ever work? It gets through the first step but fails at the beginning of the database backup. It looks like a permissions error. That isn't something that normally changes which is why I want to know if it worked before.

Please review the permissions of your database user. It should have all permissions., including SHOW TABLE.

User has all privileges, but SHOW TABLE is not on the list.

That is the problem, some versions of cPanel don't have SHOW TABLE. Please contact your host and ask them to add that permission to the database user.
