I've recently upgraded Akeeba Backup to v 3.4.6 Pro and since doing this the email notification on completion has failed (the backup does appear to be completing successfully)

I can't upgrade to a later version as they don't support the version of Joomla that the website is on. The Joomla version can't be upgraded at this time - the site is actually being redeveloped.

the website is the-businessclub.org and emails should be being sent to me - [email protected]

Hello Trevor,

I'm sorry your version is so old that we can not offer support; we've stopped offering support for Joomla 1.7 in 2012.
It's practically impossible to get back to that versions and find the bug. Moreover, even if there was a bug, we can not release a new version, since the code has been completely changed.
As a final note, please consider your site hacked. Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 were beta versions, with known security flaws in it: attackers are actively using them to hack websites. So it's just a matter of time (if not already happened) before your site gets hacked.

OK, I think I've found the issue

It seems to be something with the .htaccessmaker component of Admin Tools. It is stopping the sending of emails. How does it do this as I need to yurn it back in urgently

I hardly doubt it's the htaccess maker stopping it: the htaccess handles the incoming request, not the outgoing ones.
However you can simply replace the current .htaccess with Joomla stock one and you'll revert any changes made by Admin Tools.
Moreover, if you want to be 100% sure that Admin Tools is not triggering any issues, you can disable the system plugin; anyway Admin Tools handles incoming request, not the outgoing ones.

Thanks - that's what I thought - although it did block access to one of the directories we use for viewing temporary files :-)
