EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I'm getting ready to upgrade a 2.5 website up to 3. The last time I tried to do everything went pear-shaped. So this time I decided to use Akeeba to basically clone the website and drop it into a test domain where I can do all my testing. Obviously if it all goes wrong it's only a test website and I can start from first without interfering with the genuine website.

Now I am with site ground and am using the Go Geek hosting plan. So this is what I did. I created a sub domain under my primary domain name. So the path to the test website would be www.tetraplegicliving.com/test. So I made a backup of the website and then installed it into "test". The website looks fine, but I couldn't login. Now don't know what I've done, but I've also managed to lock myself out of the original website, Oscarfishlover.com, the one I was making the clone of. I wonder if it's got something to do with the configuration.php file. The websites are showing fine so it's got nothing to do with the database. But it's not only me who cannot log into the front or back end, it seems that my members are not able to login either. I spent quite a long time changing my password via the database but it's not made the slightest bit of difference.

Hello Penn,

I suspect there is an error in your configuration.php files.
Please double check if the value of the following variables:
  • $live_site
  • $cookie_domain
  • $cookie_path

Except some very rare case, usually they must be empty.

Yes, they are empty

I am wondering if inadvertently I have disabled a plug-in. Before we solve the problem of why I couldn't complete the backup, we were discussing whether some of the plug-ins could be responsible. I may have disabled one which is why I can't login. I'm not sure if you can enable a plug-in from the database

user72778
I can see that one of the plug-ins that I want to enable is disabled in the database. Can I simply replace the 0 with a 1, or do I have to choose something from the drop-down menu 1st?

user72778
All okay now. When I was trying to solve the Akeeba problem, I disabled the Joomla!_user plug-in which is what was stopping people from being able to login

Yes, that makes sense.
I'm glad you fixed your issue!
