Hi
I'm trying to restore a backup taken in 2009 of a now defunct website from a temporary location and I'm getting this error message:
The archive file is corrupt, truncated or archive parts are missing
I can't remember the versions for Joomla (possibly 1.5) or Akeeba.
I've read the troubleshooting guides and looked into the forum, and I gather my case is probably hopeless.
However, I unzipped the archive locally, and upload the files individually - it's a huge site, and it takes over three hours!
I tried running kickstart.php again, and it came back with a different error (I think missing paths or folders). There were also masses of PHP error messages on the screen.
I've since deleted the files, and tried again with a different, earlier archive, and got the corrupt or truncated message again.
Is it worth me uploading the individual files and trying again or should I call it a day at this stage?
Thanks
Ian

Hello Ian,

could you please attach the PHP error messages you are receiving?
Did you try to check the option Ignore most errors?

Hi Davide - many thanks for the prompt reply.
I'll upload the files and run kickstart.php again. I'll report back tomorrow...
Thanks again,
Ian

Hi Davide

I've attached a screen shot showing the principal error and some of the strict standard errors, of which there are hundreds.
Cookies are enabled on my browser.
I didn't select Ignore most errors.
And I don't know anything about session.save_path. I haven't yet contacted my host about this.

Hmm - I've clicked something else now, and gone to http://109.123.108.118/~mycareercoach/index.php. It shows only a screen full of errors.

I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what I've done now. Do you think this is a hopeless case?

Many thanks for your help so far,

Ian

Ok, since you have an old version, there are a lot of Strict errors, but you can safely ignore them, they won't affect your site.
What's concerning is the error message: could you please contact your host and ask them to take a look at the error message?
If there is a problem with the session saving, even a brand new site won't work, since it needs cookie to properly function.

Hi Davide - thanks for the quick reply. I'll contact the host now.
I have lots of other Joomla sites on this server, btw, and they all work fine.
I'll get back to you as soon as I hear anything.

Hi Davide
The host has checked out the session save path, but I'm still getting the same error.
I fear I may have to give this one up as a lost cause…
Thanks again for your help,
Ian
