EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Long time user... this is a key site hosted by SiteGround. Cron was running well, and recently started failing intermittently.
On manual backup, the backup would halt on what appeared to be time-outs, but would backup successfully (tested restore on our testing server). I ran the Configuration Wizard and now the manual backup is stable, but the command line backup is still intermittent.

A zip file of the command line log is attached.

Thanks
Theo

Theo,

Usually when the back end backup works fine and the CRON backup dies mysteriously, the host killed the CRON job. I think that is what is happening here, but your backup is running for about 130 seconds and Siteground usually kills it after 90. Please check with Siteground to see if they killed the CRON job. If they did (and you can get them to admit it) you can request that they extend the time limit. On some plans they will, on others they won't.

The normal work around for this is to trigger a front end backup using webcron.com. The cost is usually under $.02 per job.

Dale is right. Ask SiteGround support to increase the CRON daemon's timeout limit for your account. It happened to us when we moved our site to SiteGround last year. The default timeout limit was 90 seconds. This is their default which is a bit too low for a full site backup of most sites :)
