update not backup issue :(

Description of my issue:

Today 20.10. the akeeba backup Pro showed up as to be updated.
I clicked it to be updated, but it ended in a 330 ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED.
after refresh also for the frontend.
- I turned of gzip in the config (public $gzip = '0';) and refreshed but did not help.

Seems like this is an encoding/compression error of the package (no offense, that´s what I found on the web) ...

Can U please please help me?
My whole site is down 3 days after launch...

Thanks,
Christoph

Hi,

it "seems" fixed, the fix was strange though,...
1) config turn of gzip
2) delete cache
3) delete jumi folders
4) delete browsercache

... worked. Have no idea why this worked...???

Akeeba Staff
Hello,

I was going to post this reply, but you anticipated me:

I suspect that the error is thrown by Joomla when it tries to parse/download the package.
Could you please try to manually upload the new version of Akeeba Backup on your site? Do you have the same error?

I think it was just a temporary issue.
