EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

When I run the back up it just loads but it doesn't complete. I tried to run alice but I get blank page. I had the website set up on a Cpanel host for the development server. I then moved it to Godaddy which is also a cpanel hosting account.

For your information, the last error message was:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 0 (error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 0
Raw server response:

An error has occured
<strong>AJAX Loading Error</strong><br/>HTTP Status: 0 (error)<br/>Internal status: error<br/>XHR ReadyState: 0<br/>Raw server response:<br/>

Akeeba Backup Professional 4.3.1

Here are two log files.

There's not much to go on there. I think we may have some confusion about the log file. Check your Manage Backups screen and look at the backup number for the failed backup. Now go to View Log and find that backup number in the list of log files. View, download, zip and post that log file. We either have the wrong log file (there are a couple of "scratch" files in the Output folder) or we have a backup that is failing very quickly.

Hi Dale,

Thanks, There is nothing in the manage back ups. It fails upon start up.

Yeah, that's what I see in the log files. I was hoping it was just the log.

OK. let's go to Joomla! Global Configuration and set Debut to Yes and Error Reporting to Development. Then try your backup again. That change won't fix the backup, I'm looking for a more informative error message. You need to change them back after you try the backup, those changes can affect front end messages as well. We don't want the public seeing them.

Not getting anything. There are no error messages being kicked out. There are no error messages either in the error file on the server. I'm getting nothing.

OK, one last "Is it plugged in?" before I start hollering for help.

Please download Akeeba Backup from the Downloads link above and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. Do not uninstall the component. That will clear all your settings and possibly delete all of your stored backups.

We use this "install twice" trick to fix bad and corrupted installs. Since it isn't doing anything, that is a possibility.

I thought of one more thing to check. In the Configuration screen, double check the Output folder. I want to make sure it is pointing to an existing folder, not the folder on your development server. We should get an error message if it was wrong, but it wouldn't be able to write the log file.

HI Dale,

OK I download 4.3.1 and installed it twice. It still just stalls at the "Initialising backup process". Nothing else happens. It eventually fails.

Also the folder does exists. No luck! This works on my other sites but not this one. It's just crazy.

Please holler for help!

David

First try running the Configuration Wizard. It tries to configure Akeeba Backup to match your server settings and limitations (even the undocumented ones).

If this doesn't work try creating a new backup profile, run the Configuration Wizard and then try taking a new backup. Creating a new backup profile would put any corrupt profile data out of the picture. Also, it will make perfectly sure that a bunch of settings that could cause problems and the Configuration Wizard won't touch are reset to their default values.

If this still doesn't work, is there a log file generated? Can you please paste it here?

Hi Nicholas,

Ok that seemed to do the trick. Now it took 30+ minutes to complete but it worked.

Thank you!
