Description of my issue:
Hello,
I'm trying to get Akeeba Backup Pro to upload files to Google Cloud Storage.
Akeeba manual back-up works fine. If I have a backup file, I can hit the manual upload and it drops the file on google nicely. :-)

However, if I run the CRON job, it sends me the success e-mail (see below) but seems to only partially complete and doesn't upload to google. If I then hit the manual upload button I get an error message (see also below).

Backup file should be about 1.2GB

Any ideas why the job seems to be failing please?

Jon,

What we really need to diagnose the problem is the backup log. But since you're on Hostgator, I can give you a pretty good guess about what is going on. Hostgator kills your CRON job after 120 seconds. I'm on one of their shared server plans and they told me they will not increase the CRON time limit for that plan. Under those circumstances, it can not be made to work.

The alternative that I found is to trigger a front end backup using WebCron (webcron.com). The cost per CRON job is very small, and it is not subject to Hostgator's time limit.

I've been very happy with them. Just one little trick, you have to trigger a front end backup via Webcron. You're not using the akeeba-backup.php file that you use with Hostgator's CRON. You can find information on the setup on the Scheduling Information option on the Akeeba Control Panel screen.
