Hi,

Is it possible when using the Dropbox option to also store the files on my server?

Thanks,

Mike

You certainly can! Dropbox is one of the Post Processing options in the Pro version. You can find more information here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/data-processing-engines.html#proc-dropbox.

Hi Dale,

I am currently subscribed to 42127 ESSENTIALS does this include the Pro version ?

I can see the status of the backup is Remote . does this include keeping a copy on the server as well ?

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

Yes, your license includes the Pro versions of both Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools.

The backup can be stored on many cloud services or a remote FTP server. The "remote" status indicates that it is going somewhere, but I can not tell where without your backup log. The destination is controlled in Configuration, under the "Post processing engine". Note that this is by profile, so you can have one profile set up to go to Dropbox and another to go to S3, etc.

When you configure the Post processing engine, one of the options is to delete the backup on your web server. If you do not check that box, the backup will not be deleted and it will exist in both places.

Hello Dale,

Thanks for this clarification.

1. Where do I find the Post processing engine ?

2. Can I have a different number of backups stored on the server and DropBox ?

3. Will the backup be sent to DropBox if the backup is made using Cron on the server?

Regards,

Mike

Guys, you are normally so quick on the replies so this one must have fallen down the cracks.

Could you please answer my 3 questions above.

Thanks,

Mike

My apologies Mike, your last post did get past me.

  1. The post processing settings are under Configuration, in the Advanced Configuration section, Post Processing Engine. The field is a drop down box to select the type of post processing, then the Configure button will set the specific settings for that type.
  2. Yes, but it could get a little tricky. Both the Post Processing and the quotas are per profile. So if you set up different profiles to keep backups in different places. One profile might delete the local backup, another might not. It is pretty flexible, but that is a hard question to answer without knowing what you are trying to achieve.
  3. Using CRON is simply a different way of starting the backup. The result is the same regardless of whether the backup is a back end backup or a CRON backup. The profile settings control where it goes and how long it is kept.
