Hello,

I am wondering if Akeeba Backup can be used in a deployment scenario for Joomla websites.
Through the post processing engine it is possible to copy a backup to remote FTP server which could be another Joomla installation.
Now, is it possible to execute the extration and installation of the archive on the remote server?
Alernatively, is it possible to add the remotely saved backup in the Akeeba backup list of the remote Joomla installation?

Note: I ran across ticket #20497 which is a year old already. It mentions a Kickstart Professional tool that could be executed on the remote server. However I cannot seem to find the tool anywhere.

Thanks
Richard

Richard,

Kickstart Professional is on our Downloads page, directly under Akeeba Backup. It is a paid extension, but it is included with your Akeeba Backup subscription.

What you're really looking for is UNiTE, directly beside Kickstart on the Download page. This package is also included in your Backup subscription.

Thank you. UNiTE is exactly what I was looking for.

You're welcome!

I'm going to leave your other ticket for Nicholas and Davide. My understanding of the issue is very basic. You are running under two different versions of PHP, PHP-CLI and PHP-FCGI (mostly). The CLI version generally does not have the time limitations that the CGI/FCGI version has. So you're going to have trouble with UNiTE with long operations with the CLI restrictions lifted. There may be other reasons for the restriction as well.

Life is too short to deal with a restrictive host.
