Hey Akeeba,

I have a client who wiped out their website and I am trying to restore on one of my hosting accounts using an older AkeebaBackup Pro .jpa file I had saved locally. Everytime I try to run kickstart, it errors out, and at different points each time [An error occurred - The archive file is corrupt, truncated or archive parts are missing]. It does appear in my file manager that the folders are [mostly] extracted correctly, but I can't get to the installer to go past the kickstart unzip/unpacking screen [see attached screenshot].

So, here is my question ... is there a way I can restore the database using the text files in the installation folder [see attached screenshot]? I can handle any other rebuilding/config file edits that might need to be completed, but the database is where I am stuck.

Thank you very much for any assistance/guidance you can send my way.

Respectfully,

Barron

First, please try to extract the archive with the Akeeba eXtract Wizard on our Download page (towards the bottom). Sometimes that works when kickstart fails.

If that doesn't work, you can just visit your website on your local server and you should be redirected to the installation script. I think the direct url is localhost/installation/index.php.

Yes, you have the database in those sql files, but restoring them in that format is not for the faint of heart. Let's try to do it the easy way first.

1. Thank you very, very much for the prompt response. I have been a subscriber to AkeebaBackup Pro for years and only needed support a couple times, and you guys are always rocket fast in your replies. So ... thank you!

2. I simply used the installation link in 2nd paragraph of your reply & it bounced straight into Angie, and everything else worked perfectly.

3. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Case closed.

You are welcome!

Just keep in mind that the installation script and database files are extracted first, so the fact that your restore was successful does not mean that you have all the files for your site. You may still have trouble.
