EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I keep getting an AJAX error. I do know that the size of the file is over 2GB. I am tying to backup to a specific directory...but it fails.

Wow! Your version of Akeeba Backup is a real antique. I can't tell from that old log what size you have your split archive set for or if you have it set at all. It is entirely possible that it dies when it hits 2 Gb. That is a magic number for 32 bit servers. It is not possible to exceed that size. Even if it is not a 32 bit limit, it can be a host imposed limit.

You need to set your split archive size to 2 Gb or less and retry your backup.
