Hi,
I have a problem with the backup started by a cronjob at a couple of websites, hosted by different hosters.
Strange thing is that at some other sites, hosted at other hosters, I don't have any problems at all.

When the time is there the cronjob has to start, it starts the Akeeba Backup.
But instead of finishing the backup it is starting an starting over and over again.
Everytime it is saving a new little file in the backup folder.
But after a periode of an hour or more there are so many files, my hoster is blocking access to the sites cause of server overload.

I have added a couple of logfiles of last weekend.
I hope someone here can advice me what to do to fix this.
Or what can the hosters do to make it possible to start a backup automatically without the errors?

I had this problem earlier (see ticket #20768) and after the update it seems to work fine. But no a couple of updates later, the problem still exists.

Thanks for the support.
Best regards,
Wouter (WoodyF4u)

I think the problem is your CRON setup. You are trying to start the backup on an even hour, you have the hour number in the hour field. But you have an asterisk in the minute field (*). What that tells the CRON job to do is start the backup job every minute for that hour.

Hi Dale,
That sounds as a good reason.
I will try that tonight and post the results here.

Hi Dale.
Your post was the solution.
I thought only the hour was enough for the cronjob.
But now I have added a value for yje minutes and the backup is finishing as it should be.

Thanks for your support!

You're welcome! That problem sure was easier the second time I saw it! :-)
