Description of my issue:

I am using Akeeba backup from more than 9 years, without problem.
I am updating first, from 4 web sites, Joomla 2.5.28 to Joomla 3.4.1.
For test purpose, I run local test version on MAMP.

Ready to go on LWS server,
I first did .jpa backup,
Erased all server content
uploaded .jpa backup at LWS using Filezilla,
created kicktemp 755 perm
uploaded kickstart.php 777 perm
And launched mysite/kickstart.php
First in direct mode…Ajax error from beginning
Then in hybrid…Ajax error at 1/20 of progression bar
Final use FTD…Ajax error at ½ of progression bar
FTP access is OK and I also checked I can write in kicktemp

I lost some time trying to fix it without success.

So I just buy akeeba pro
Install it locally re create new .jpa backup
see attached Log file
And again upload it…..
Hybrid mode
Same Ajax error saying

I was using kickstart.php latest version 4.1.0
Now I download latest pro 4.1.0 and I got same results
First in direct mode…Ajax error from beginning
Then in hybrid…Ajax error at 1/20 of progression bar
Final use FTD…Ajax error at ½ of progression bar
same error message

I am wondering if the problem is linked with last Joomla version 3.4.1 ?

Looking at LWS Control pannel about php I found that open_basedir has this strange value:

value indicated in error message

But I can't edit it.

I checked on other working web sites (same LWS hosting), open_basedir has coresponding values.
So I think the value is correct I mean correctly set.


There is no .user.ini file on your server when the execution raises an error.

Of course there is an open_basedir enabled on all my servers.
I did a copy and paste for 3, first is the one I am trying to kickstart
the site2 and site3 are working web sites in Joomla 2.5.28
I added some linefeeds to make comparison easier.

I am installing in / (root of my space from filezilla)
using / as temporary works a few then error
using /kicktemp/ as temporary stops with error at start

In parallel I did other tests:

I am uploading now an old version (previous one Joomla 2.5.28) to see
if I can kickstart it as before or not.

If it works, the problem is linked ( with strong probability) to Joomla 3.4 backup and restaure...

Ok Upload ended.. I launch kickstart pro hybrid mode, it's done without error.

So, from my side it seems that problem is linked with new Joomla version, or new akeeba version....this backup was probably done with Akeeba 4.1.0

I checked that LWS is using php 5.3.29.

I am doing new tests now, trying to upload and install .jpa backup on freeewebhosting
using php 5.4


I asked LWS to move from 5.3.29 to 5.6 ... one hour to wait to get it.

Then I can check if error is linked with php version or php setup

with php 5.6.8 on LWS server, kickstart works directly very fast.
Web site works now in Joomla 3.4.1

The only rule I can set up is
using LWS hosting, php 5.3.29 doesn't allow kickstart to run without error.

open_basedir has always this strange value:
