EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

First attempt at CRON'ed backup.
Config is copy of default profile and this simply points at a non-standard output directory.
Backup runs OK manually using this profile.
CRON'ed version gives error Could not rename last JPA part to .JPA extension.
It appears to complete other than that - the log file indicates everything else OK. There is however no file present in the output directory other than the log files.

Host is a CPANEL host.

Looked for all the similar tickets but they seem to have a permissions cause in the main.

Have included screenshots of the directory, php environment, text of cron job as well as log files.

Hello Rick,

can you please try to use the script akeeba-altbackup.php for your CRON backup?

Once I had set up the front end backup, this worked OK.
Is it required to do it this way on a CPanel host?
I don't wish to offend, but reading the description of the Alt backup it sounds a lot like string and glue. Strong string and glue perhaps. Also, although the other method told me that it failed it was nice to receive a summary of the log in the email.
Is it also possible to use Amazon or Dropbox with the alt backup?

Thanks.

Hosts are like snowflakes: each one is unique.
A solution that works for most of them, won't work on a different server and viceversa, that's why we have different ways to trigger the backup process.
Once the process is started, you can use all the available features, there are no limits.

If you want to receive an email on backup completion, you can enable that inside Component Options.
Please remember that you won't receive the full log (you weren't receiving it while using the other method, too), you'll simply receive an alert that the backup was completed.

Interesting metaphor :-)

Yep, I found that option for email.

Thanks for assistance.
