EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: When trying to update to Akeeba 4.1.2 I get the error 403 forbidden, so I have tried uploading a package file where I get the error: 'there was an error uploading this file to the server'.

I then tried installing from directory, and I get the error: 'JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file Path does not have a valid package.

The file is probably larger than your upload limit, that is pretty common. You did exactly the right thing, you just missed one little detail. The "install from directory" expects the zip file to be extracted.
