EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I have Joomla installed and use Akeeba to back it up. I manage 15 other sites and always use Akeeba and Kickstart to restore them when necessary, moving to a new host, etc. and I'm comfortable with the procedure.

I also have a php calendar (Helios Calendar) installed on my hosting account with it's own database. It's not part of the Joomla install.

I was wondering if I could use Akeeba to backup the calendar separately (its own backup) and if so, how would I restore it separately from the Joomla files if I needed to.

I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.

Hello Joanne,

you have to create two different profiles in order to backup your site and your calendar:
  1. Full Joomla! backup, excluding the calendar application (the way you are used to do)
  2. Full site backup, site root override and site database override enabled, force site root and site db parameters pointing to the calendar folder & db, Embedded restoration script set to ANGIE for Miscellaneous PHP Applications

When you take a backup with the second profile, you'll have an archive that you can easily restore using ANGIE, as you usually do with any Joomla backup.

Sorry, one more question -- I don't see ANGIE in the Akeeba installation on the web site I'm talking about. Do I need to purchase it? And do you have info on how to restore using ANGIE rather than Kickstart?

ANGIE is the restoration script and it's already shipped with Akeeba Backup: most likely you have already used it, but you didn't know its name :)
Since there are several different version, you have to choose the correct one inside Akeeba Backup configuration.

Hi, I managed to backup the calendar files and db following the instructions you kindly provided. The original site is on Rochen. The calendar was only 3.5 megs

I tested the backup on another host (Siteground).
I created a new folder and uploaded kickstart.php and the backup file to it.
I created a new db on the host.
I ran kickstart and all seemed to go well except all I see is a blank page both on the front and back ends.

restored version: http://joannepinatel.com/helios/

working version: http://www.hrymca.org/helios/

I looked here for answers: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/prbasicts.html

The calendar program doesn't have an htaccess or configuration.php file so those options do not apply.

Is there something else I could have done wrong?

Thanks

I just connected to the joannepinatel site and I can see the calendar is working.
What was the error you received?

I found the config.php file with help from Siteground support -- it needed to be adjusted to point to the right database so your instructions were helpful. All is working now. The backup is good.

Thanks for following up and all your help!

Joanne
