EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Hi there. I have built a website on a test domain - which I am now looking to transfer over to a different server which is hosting the live domain. In order to do this I have backed up my test website using akeeba backup and I have my .jpa file.

I am trying to upload this file (plus kickstart.php) onto my live server, but each time I do it the connectionj drops at about 56mb (my file is 262mb).
I have spoken to my host and they are useless, they have told me that 262mb is under their limit so it should upload, but of course it won't (I've tried it about 6 times now).
So they have suggested that I split the file.
Is this even possible? If so how do I do it please?
Thank you so much for your help,

Keith

It is very easy to split the archive. Under Configuration, Archiver Engine, press the Configure button and set the Part size for split archives value. The default is 2 Gb because that is a magic number for 32 bit servers. Bad things happen when your archive is bigger than that on a 32 bit server.

This will create a series of files, the "main" part has a .jpa extension and the remaining parts have .j01, .j02, etc. extensions. All parts are required to restore your site. Kickstart knows how to extract a multipart file, just tell it the .jpa file name and it will take it from there.

Hi Dale - thank you so much for such a fast response - if only every support team was as quick as you guys :)

I have now found the split option and am just running a backup from it now.

Thanks again, much appreciated
