I'm planning to migrate my system from J2.5.28 to J3.x.

I was reading this article:
https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1609-announcement-about-joomla-25-support.html

...and wondered if you could clarify something.
In that article you say:
"The versions of our software at the time of this writing (December 2014) are compatible with both Joomla! 2.5 and Joomla! 3.2/3.3/3.4. You do not need to do anything special to migrate a Joomla! 2.5 site to Joomla! 3 as far as our extensions are concerned."

Great! I'm updating to the latest versions now so one less thing to worry about...but then in the very next line I read:
"...if you're reading this article after January 10th, 2015 you will need to take some steps to disable our software before upgrading your site."

Huh? How/why did the software go from "do not need to do anything special" to "follow this complicated list of instructions"? Am I missing something?

The wording "or if you're reading this article after January 10th, 2015" was supposed to catch the case where all of the following conditions apply:

* The original site is Joomla! 2.5, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4
* The version of our software used was published between June 2014 and December 2014
* The user wants to update their site to Joomla! 3.5

In other words, this wording was added to make sure the article stays relevant after September 2015. Now, you may think I'm insane to add that. I mean, what, writing something which will only apply 9 months into the future? You wouldn't know how often someone emails me about instructions I've written 2+ years ago and only applied to a now very old and obsolete version of our software.

As for your case, as long as you've got installed a version of our software published after June 2014 (you do!) you don't have to do anything special regarding our software.
