Hello,

can you please analyze the log using the log analyzer (ALICE) and try to apply the suggest solutions?
If you still have issues, please post here.

Hi

I have already done this but no success.

dimoss
Hi again

Running the Alice analyzer I get two errors:

1. Backup engine state saving issues
Backup engine died without its state having been saved. The engine was stepped 2 times, saved 1 times
Please check if you have enough disk space; if your part size is more than 5Mb (or it's 0) please try part sizes of 20, 10, 5 and 2Mb.
If you still get this error, change time settings inside Akeeba Backup; try minimum execution time 1, maximum 7 and runtime bias 50. If this doesn't work try minimum 5, maximum 3 (yes, max is less than min) and bias 50.

2. Timeout while backing upError
There is already an issue with the backup engine saving its state. Please fix it before continuing.
Please try setting min execution time to 1, max execution time to 10 seconds (or if the PHP timeout is less than 10 seconds, use 75% of the PHP timeout), runtime bias 75%

I tried all the options that the analyzer suggests in (1) with no success

Hi

Running discover on J! Backend I saw that the FOF Library 2.2.1 (by Akeeba) is not installed.
I don't know if this is an issue.

dlb
Davide has signed off for the evening, it is late in his corner of the world.

Beginning with Joomla! 3.2 the FOF library became a core library of the Joomla! project and is maintained by Joomla! Shortly after, the original author of FOF forked the project and created the f0f (f-zero-f) library. The f0f library is installed and maintained by Akeeba, among others. Both libraries are required on your system.

Please check to see if these files are present on your system:
  • administrator/components/com_akeeba/engine/Archiver/jpa.php
  • administrator/components/com_akeeba/engine/Archiver/Zip.php
  • administrator/components/com_akeeba/engine/Archiver/jps.php

Hi Dale

Nope, I don't have these 3 .php files.
I have only the related .ini files.

However there is a f0f directory in the libraries folder.

What I have to do?

Thanks

dimoss
Hi Date

f0f was installed. I just installed again from the discover option.
Then I extract the 3 files you noted and I uploaded them into the directory you told me but again no success.

It stops on 99% completion.

Another thing I noticed is that when I navigated again (after the incomplete backup) to the same directory the .phg files was dissapeared!!!

I don't know what to do..:-(

Your host is getting a false positive with their virus scanner on those three files and is deleting them. As you can see, Akeeba Backup can't run without them. Those files handle our jpa, zip and jps archive files. The ability to handle archive files is a characteristic of some virus files.

Running the virus scan is a good thing by your host. Deleting files from your site without warning or notice is a Very Bad Thing! Talk to your host and explain the problem. If they don't whitelist these files, RUN, don't walk, to a better host.

Hi Dale

So you say that the problem is on my host because when I run the backup and before its completion the virus scanner delete the files so the backup cannot complete???

If this is the case why the scanner deletes all the 3 .php files and not only the Jpa.php? I use JPA.

The host's scanner runs IRRESPECTIVE of which files are loaded. Since we're both Greek, I think that giving you an analogy with army life –something the majority of Greek males had to put up with for 1 to 3 years of their youth– will make it more clear.

You are at the army recruit centre and you have a box with three chocolates in your locker: bitter, milk, mint. You have only started nibbling at the milk chocolate. The sergeant comes in, looks at your locker and says "these items are forbidden", immediately confiscating all three chocolates. You didn't have a bite of the bitter and milk chocolate, but they are confiscated anyway. Also, the inspection didn't happen because you ate some of the milk chocolate, it happened because the sergeant felt like it.

Chocolates = PHP files. Locker = your site's disk space. Sergeant = host's """virus scanner*""". Eating = take a backup. I think it's clear not.

* Virus scanner my ass. It does NOT detect viruses or even malware. It simply takes arbitrary actions against innocent files. Read this for detailed info: https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1536-new-threat-hosts-delete-files-without-asking.html

Hi Nicholas

Liked your army story..;-)
I contacted the hosting company and they put these 3 files in whitelist immediately and the problem solved.
Thanks you and Dale for the help.
