EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Hi,

I'd like to be able to turn off force ssl option for the sack of the backup. It would make it easier to retrieve a particular file which was inadvertently changed. This would mean I wouldn't need a wildcard certificate and could restore the site anywhere and grab the file I need. If that is possible I'd like to see a checkbox for it as an option in a future release.

BTW, really great product.

Hello Cliff,

If you only need a file you don't need to go through the entire restoration, just extract the backup archive. Then you can navigate the folder structure and copy the file you need.

That said, you can always complete the restoration. Afterwards just edit your configuration.php file and set $ssl to 0.

We can't duplicate all of the configuration.php options in the restoration for reasons of perceived complexity. We have to strike a balance between letting you configure things on restoration and making the restoration manageable by all of our users. We monitor very carefully the frequency of issues and the options which could solve them. For example, cookie domain issues have been a surprisingly frequent issue, hence their appearance in ANGIE. The SSL preference has been reported exactly two times –including your ticket– in more than eight years and 18,000 Akeeba Backup related support tickets. Its relative frequency is near zero. Therefore it's extremely unlikely that such an option will ever make it into ANGIE.
