EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Front-end backup fails - does not complete.

The Angie report indicates:
if your part size is more than 5Mb (or it's 0) please try part sizes of 20, 10, 5 and 2Mb.
If you still get this error, change time settings inside Akeeba Backup; try minimum execution time 1, maximum 7 and runtime bias 50. If this doesn't work try minimum 5, maximum 3 (yes, max is less than min) and bias 50.

For which I have tried all suggested variations without success.

I can manually run a backup from the administrator interface.

As far as I can tell, the remote end which was running the backup stops responding after approximately 100-120 seconds. I suppose that you are using a CRON job or a remote service such as WebCRON.org to schedule the front-end backups. Please ask the service provider where this CRON job runs to allow it to execute for a longer period of time. The necessary time to run is pretty much the same as how long it takes to run the backup from your site's back-end.
