EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Not really an issue but a question.

I need to back up to an offline testing site (to test the backup and troubleshoot any problems).

I am using MaxCDN and No Number CDN plugin. Should I manually disable the plugin before backing up, or should I exclude the plugin in Akeeba settings? Which is the best way to go? Do I even need to worry about this?

I also use JCH Optimize which is causing problems and is disabled - so I am going to restore backup to an offline testing site to sort this out. Is it ok for me to backup with that plugin disabled to troubleshoot on the offline testing site?

I already remove 301 redirects and manually change configuration.php on the restoration site to make sure that the live site domain is correct (not the production site that is live). Is there anything else I need to watch out for?

Many thanks.

Hello Jenina,

I am not aware of any issues with those plugins, so I think they shouldn't create any problem.
Akeeba Backup simply takes a copy of everything and puts it inside a backup archive, then during the extraction it extracts all the files in the new location.

During the restoration you can change some parameters, such as the admin password or the database.
For further details you can take a look at this page in the manual

Thanks - I am already v familiar with restoring (I do it regularly on offline backup live sites on the same server to make sure that the backups are tested). Good to know those plugins are in themselves not problematic. Many thanks.
