I installed 4.1.0rc1 and did a backup. Everything seemed to work, but the backup file wasn't there. I looked at the configuration in the CP, and the Output Directory had reverted to the default, instead of preserving the directory I had set.

No need to respond to this,as I could fix it. But I wanted to report it.

Hello Peter,

I think I know exactly why this happened. I believe that all your settings in all of your profiles have been reset to default except the filters (files & directories exclusion, database table exclusion and so on). Am I right? I need this feedback to see if my hunch on what's going on is correct.

I can't really say, as we only have one profile, and the only thing we changed from the default was the Output Directory.

I've found out what is going on. The RC2 version fixes this issue. Unfortunately, sites which were already upgraded to RC1 can't be fixed. The problem was due to the encryption key file for the settings not being preserved on update.
