Hi,
I guess this is not normal : Joomla Updater (and Akeeba Backup admin interface) suggests to install a new version... which is a Release Candidate !

This is a known issue with the Joomla! extensions updater, one that I have personally warned the Joomla! project about since 2010, a little before Joomla! 1.6 was released. Joomla! has ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to determine the stability of a version or provide separate stable/testing update channels. This was one of the reasons we were using our own Akeeba Live Update to provide updates to our component. However, you (I mean: the vocal majority of our clients) demanded that we stopped using our much better update solution and switch to Joomla!'s extensions update. Well, this is one of the drawbacks and we can't do anything about it.

On the other hand, I spend the last two and a half weeks thoroughly testing the component on every dev and test server. It seems to be rather tame and well behaved. I have only tagged this release as a Release Candidate (that's one step before "stable") because there is a major change (the new backup engine) which hasn't been tested "in the wild". Given the profuse amount of testing I have personally put on this version I'd say it ought to be much more stable than the nominally stable 4.0.0 version we released a couple of months ago.

Txs Nicholas !
So if your RC is even better than a normal Stable, I am happy :-)

Still I guess it is because you have voluntarily published it to be visible for Joomla Updater (because usually I don't see "RC" in my Joomla's backend) ?

(and yes, I do understand Joomla Updater does not support two distincts channels for updates : Dev & Prod switch for example. But who knows, one day you will be fed up and you will push it ;-)

Txs for you quick reaction, as usual.

Yours,

Marc
