EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Hi,

after some time running the backup failed with message: Akeeba Backup for Joomla! throws an AJAX Error, 500 Internal Server Error or the backup does not complete

I have tried all my best but could not identify the cause of the error.

Regards
Manfred Schoenrock

Your host, Strato, is known to have hidden file size limits. Exactly what the limit is varies from one server to another. It may be 5 Mb, 10 Mb or 50 Mb. You are hitting a file size limit during your backup and the backup stops.

You need to set the part size under Configuration to use a smaller part than the current 2 Gb.

I reduced the part size to 255 MB in the archiver engine but the backup failed the same way.

The Strato limits are 5 Mb, 10 Mb, or 50 Mb depending on the server. A 255 Mb limit is not going to work on Strato.

I reduced the value to 10 MB and it works. Thanks for help.

You're welcome!

You found a value that you know works. You can increase it to find what the maximum size is for your server. When it fails, you know it is too high. Our information comes from what clients have reported as working in the past, Strato may have increased the limits.
