EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I have 70+ Joomla sites running on ICDSoft servers, running different versions of Joomla, but all running Akeeba Backup. All sites create backups at least once a week, many every 2-3 days. I have had virtually no problem with backups failing until the last 2-3 revisions of Akeeba Backup.

I've attached logs representative of 3 sites running the latest versions of Joomla & either the latest or close to the latest versions of Akeeba Backup. The default output setup is exactly like every other site I run on the ICDSoft servers. After I get a backup failure, I can re-run the backup without changing any parameters either in Akeeba or folder permissions and the backup will run perfectly. There is plenty of space on each server for the archive files.

I've asked technical support if they can identify anything in the server setup which might cause the backup problem, but they've been unable to find anything.

Again - the problem only occurs with the latest versions of Akeeba Backup. I have Joomla 1.5.26 sites running an earlier version of Akeeba Backup without a hiccup.

Thanks for your help!

I believe I know why this happens, even though I can't reproduce the issue. Please try the latest dev release from https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/developer-releases/akeebapro.html (the latest release is on the top). Try your backups again and let me know if that fixes this issue.

I've downloaded the latest developer release and installed it on a site on which the error has occurred two days in a row. I ran the backup by manually triggering the regular backup CRON job and it ran fine. Fingers crossed!

FYI - Have also not been able to reproduce the issue nor have the site technical staff. On one site we had the CRON running every 2 hours for a day after the first error, but it would never reproduce the error!

Thanks for your help!

The conditions which trigger this issue are extremely rare. You'd need to create a new part exactly at the very end of a backup step. That's extremely unlikely. I am honestly surprised that you would consistently get this problem on so many sites since it's very sensitive to the contents of the site and the timing. But I'm also glad that you provided the logs. Comparing them led me very quickly to a line in our code where it became apparent what's going on and why.
