Since several months ago we are using Joomla! extensions updater to handle the updates. The updates and update notifications are no longer implemented using our code. Since you have a question about Joomla! itself (namely, the extensions updates) we can't help you as we have no control over that code.

If you can't see the update in Joomla! (Extensions, Manage Extensions, Update) you can always install 4.0.5 on top of whichever version you have. Joomla! figures out that you already have an earlier version installed and performs an update instead of a clean installation.

BTW: Your question is support, NOT a pre-sales request. Please file your tickets correctly.

sorry about wrong filing my question...
will try installing on top...
funny thing though, it worked on another site with 3.7.7 ... ??? = earlier even that 3.10.2
same procedure, updated first joomla from 3.3.0 to 3.3.6 then akeeba backup from 3.7.7 to 4.0.5 just with the update icon...

Ah, I misread your Akeeba Backup version. 3.10.2 does not include Live Update any more. We removed it because we had already transitioned to using Joomla!'s extensions update and we plan on stopping the provisioning of INI-style updates to old Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools versions on January.
