EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Direct update failed '403' error. Completed manual update (download/install). Process completed correctly. AB panel now shows version 4.0.5 installed but still showing update version 4.0.4 needed. Extension Manager shows no update available.

AB appears to be running 4.0.5 but thinks that 4.0.4 updated needed.

Please advise fix. Thank you.

Akeeba Backup 4.0.5 is the proper version. The problem will go away as your update cache expires and is updated. You don't need to do anything to fix it.
