EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I have a component that I am trying to update on a number of sites, and the component update is made up of a component, 3 modules and up to 14 plugins (this includes 3 optional plugins tha depend on the individual settings for each of the individual sites), and as I had taken a full backup prior to the update, there was no need for a system restore point backups.

After the system restore point ran for the main component update, it did not run for the 3 modules, so I had assumed at this point that the system restore point only kicked in for components.

However, when I installed the first couple of plugins, the system restore point kicked in again, and as it was a real pain (bearing in mind that each site (and I have approx 22 to do!!) needs at least 11 of the plugins to be updated), so I decided to switch off the "Enhanced Extensions Installation" option by clicking the "Back to standard installer" link.

I then proceeded to install the remaining plugins, but the system restore point backup is still kicking in for each of the plugins that I update, even though the "Enhanced Extensions Installation" option is definitely switched off (see the attached screenshots from the updater page, where the "Enhanced Extensions Installation" message is no longer being displayed).

In most cases this would not be an issue, but it is an issue for me for this particular component as there are just so many individual parts to the component (I really wish the developer would integrate it into a single package, like other developers do with multi-faceted components, but hey ho, such is life :) ), and because each time I have so many sites to be updated.

I know that I can disable the system restore points, but I would prefer not to do this as it is a very useful feature for the most part.

Please can you look into this and let me know if there is anything that I can change to fix the issue.

On another note, and strictly speaking I should open it on another ticket, but is there any way to switch off the "View Log" button, and displaying the backup ID in the description, as I really do not need to see these in the manage backup under normal circumstances (only if there is an issue that needs reporting)?

Thank you as always.

You can disable the System - System Restore Points plugin. However, due to a bug in Joomla!, you need to go to Cache, Clean Cache and clean BOTH the Site and Administrator caches. I have already sent a patch for this bug to Joomla!, it was accepted and will be included in Joomla! 3.4, scheduled for release towards the end of the month.

The View Log button cannot be turned off. Sorry. It's hard-coded in the system.

Hi Nicholas,

Thqank you.

Yes, that's what I did in the end, as it was just impractical to have so many SRP's.

Good tip about the cache, I will give that a try on the next site.

Ref the view log button, no worries, it was just a thought as it makes the page longer so invokes more scrolling, so not a major issue, I just thought that I would ask. It was just a convenience thing really.

Thank you again for your very prompt reply, much appreciated.

Regards

John
