EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I would send the "Akeeba Backup log file" if I could find it. Where is it located?

I installed the Akeeba Pro 3.11.4. After the installation the next screen said:
"500 - An error has occurred.
Layout default not found
Return to Control Panel"

See attached screen shot.

When I clicked on "Return to Control Panel" I got a blank screen. How do I undo the installation? I have a restore point file "restore-point-20140821-215138.jpa".

Please try disabling the "System - System Restore Points" plugin first.

If you are using caching, please go to Global Configuration and disable it now. There is a bug in Joomla 3.2 and 3.3 which prevents plugins from being immediately disabled when cache is enabled.

Download Akeeba Backup 3.11.4 from our site. Now go to your site's Extensions, Manage Extensions and install the Akeeba Backup ZIP file without uninstalling the component first.

Now you can re-enable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin and your cache.

The only way I was able to get into the Joomla website back end was by clicking on the link in the email alerting me to an Akeeba update. Once inside the Akeeba control panel I had access to the Extensions Manager where I disabled the "restore point" plugin. The Global Configuration. Caching was already disabled.

I then reinstalled Akeeba Backup 3.11.4 without any errors being reported.

After the installation I am still unable to access the back end Control Panel, however, I can access all of the control functions by using the top row drop down menus except "Site" > "Control Panel".

Attached is a text file containing the Joomla's System Information.

When I open a new Tab and attempt to log in to the back end I get a blank screen. The only way I am able to access the back end functions is by logging into a specific function such as Akeeba Control Panel or Extensions Plugin. How do I restore my back end main Control Panel?

By the way, where is the "Akeeba Backup log file" located. I looked in:
1. the Joomla root directory
2. administrator > administrator > components
3. administrator > components > com_akeeba
4. components > com_akeeba

OK, what you have is unfortunately not related to Akeeba Backup. It's either a problem with your user session or a problem with Joomla!'s access control setup. Neither of these has to do with our code. I can try to help you, but please understand that I'm trying to help you with a Joomla! issue so your mileage may vary!

First try removing all cookies from your browser that have to do with your site. If you are unsure you can simply remove all cookies from your browser. Then retry logging in to your back-end.

If you still don't see your back-end menu, it's possible that you accidentally unpublished the system menu module. Go to Extensions, Module Manager (the /administrator/index.php?option=com_modules URL on your site) and click on the first Filter on the left hand side of the page which currently reads "Site". Change it to Administrator. Find the "Admin Menu", "Admin Submenu", "Title" and "Toolbar" modules and make sure they are published and their access is set to Registered. Then make sure that the position of each of these modules is:
"Admin Menu" --> menu
"Admin Submenu" --> submenu
"Title" --> title
"Toolbar" --> toolbar
