EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Hello

I did something wrong during updating joomla core and akeeba backup pro. First I updated akeeba backup pro from 3.9.2 to 3.11.0. Then I updated joomla core from 2.5.17 to 2.5.20.
After that I start akeeba backup and then backups hangs up. I discovered that PHP version is to low, my fault ( I'm sorry...)
Then I deinstalled akeeba backup pro and installed compatible version 3.10.2 as a new installation but when starting a backup it still hangs up, see log file.
What do I have to do to get akeeba running? Please help.

kind regards
Tanja

The PHP version requirements for Akeeba Backup 3.9, 3.10 and 3.11 have not changed. The minimum PHP version is still PHP 5.3.4, just like it has been since February 2013. Moreover, Akeeba Backup 3.11.0 is compatible with Joomla! 2.5.15 and later, including 2.5.20.

I would recommend logging out of your site, clear your browser cache and your cookies and log back in. I suspect that you have either a session or a Javascript issue.

Hi Nicholas

thank you for your help. I cleared cache and cockies and startet firefox again. Now it works. I upgraded akeeba backup pro to 3.11 and now it works too. I have no idea what happens but now everything is fine.

kind regards

I know what happened. I've seen similar issues on our site and our clients' sites after every Joomla! update and I even Twitted very pissed off about it a few days ago :) In many Joomla! updates the Javascript files shipped with Joomla! change. However, Joomla! fails to include a version tag when loading the files. As a result some of the new files are indeed loaded from your server and many more, out of date, files are loaded from the browser's cache. This causes Javascript errors which result in all sorts of strange issues. Logging out and clearing the cache forces your browser to reload all Javascript files from scratch, "fixing" those issues.

Rule of thumb: every time you update Joomla! please remember to clear your browser's cache.
