I use Akeeba Backup to make a full backup of every site with a daily cron schedule in combination with external storage of backup files on Amazon S3. This works very good, also when restoring a backup.
However, sometimes the transfer of files to Amazon is interrupted, presumably by slow network connections. I understand that this may happen once in a while. The problem for my sites is that I always delete the files from my own server after transfer, but the deletion does not take place if the transfer was interrupted. This may result in quite a few backup files residing on the server and using up diskspace, if I'm not quick at removing them. And it seems to me that they slow down the backup process and (as a result of that) maybe even make it more likely to have the transfer interrupted again, thus creating some negative spiral.
Would there be a way to have these files removed automatically after the transfer has failed? Maybe as an optional setting? In most cases, a new backup (maybe the cron of the next day) will run without any problems.
Kind regards,
Frits
