EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Hi,
See #19386
This question follows on from the previous ones !
The Akeeba plug in (Backup on update) has been disabled.
I have again tried to upload 2.5.18 but the system is still waiting 11 minutes later.
Any ideas ?

Please make sure the System - Backup on update plugin really is disabled. My understanding of the error message is that it is telling you that you need to disable it, not that it is already done.

Hi,

Been away and now looking at this again !

The following are all shown as being Disabled (red circle) on page Plug-In Manager : Plug-ins:
System - Backup on update
System - Akeeba Backup Update Check
Akeeba Backup Lazy Scheduling
Does this help ?

Rerun Update and
Error message appears :
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
Then system runs Backup and not Update
And final error message :
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
Invalid package type. The update can not proceed.

Any help ?

Hi,
And Joomla 2.5.18 update still not loading !!!

This response was written for our components, but I think you are running into the same problem with the Joomla! update, the file is too big.

The packages of our latest versions of our components are rather big. Since the default maximum upload size on most servers is just 2Mb this may cause an upload error. The best solution is to ask your host to set the following in the server's php.ini:
upload_max_filesize = 10M
post_max_size = 10M

If this is not possible, there's a good chance that the following lines in your .htaccess file may work on most servers:
php_value upload_max_filesize 10M
php_value post_max_size 10M

There is also another alternative, but it won't work on all hosts: installation by URL. Please go to the Download section of our site and select the software and version you want to download. Next to the "Download now" button you will see a link called "DirectLink". Right click on it and select "Copy link address" (the exact phrase depends on the browser, but it should have to do about copying the link or its address / URL / location).

Now go to your site's back-end, Extensions, Extensions Manager and find the Install from URL field. Note: on Joomla! 3.x you have to click on the "Install from URL" tab to see that field. Replace the contents of the "Install URL" field with the contents of your clipboard (the DirectLink URL you copied above) and click on the "Install" button next to this textbox. As long as your server supports installing extensions from URL the installation should go through.

If this still doesn't help you can always follow the manual installation instructions in our troubleshooting documentation.

In my php.ini file I have :
memory_limit = 128M;
max_execution_time = 120;
upload_max_filesize = 10M;
post_max_size = 12M;
so this file does not seem to be the problem ?

Re .htaccess file - where do I find this ?
I have looked under / in public-html folder and found htaccess.txt that is a message only and says do not touch. Also found .htaccess that says 'Not Wordpress', or something like that.
So, again (smile) where do I find the .htaccess file ?

A Full Akeeba BackUp works fine - should that help ?

Thanks
