Akeeba backup file was not generated. The problem occurs on authentication, not the backup itself.

Description of my issue:
I use Frontend backup and works fine in several sites, running Joomla! 2.5.11, and Akeeba Backup Professional 3.7.7 (2013-05-11).

One site I updated to Joomla! 2.5.18 and Akeeba Backup Professional 3.9.2 (2013-12-27). For this site, Frontend backup fails to complete.

I tested on 2 sites that share the same server. To isolate any cron/php error, I typed the command on my browser and it worked to run backup on the not-updated site but does not work on the updated one, where I get the browser answer: 403 Access denied.

Httpd error log does not show any error. Httpd access log shows the connection request sent by cron from another server was received:
54.232.75.122 - - [08/Mar/2014:22:45:52 -0300] "GET /index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=backup&key=[erasedpass]&profile=1 HTTP/1.1" 200 17 "-" "-"

Hello Pedro,

first of all, you are not supposed to visit that link with the browser, that's why you are getting the 403 error.
However, does your backup successfully complete?
If not, can you please attach the backup log?

Akeeba backup file was not generated. The problem occurs on authentication, not the backup itself.

It is not firewall blocking, because I can see the Apache log the connection: Httpd error log does not show any error. Httpd access log shows the connection request sent by my other server was received, line copied from log:
54.232.75.122 - - [08/Mar/2014:22:45:52 -0300] "GET /index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=backup&key=[erasedpass]&profile=1 HTTP/1.1" 200 17 "-" "-"

I masked the above password to print it here. I guess that Akeeba Admin is blocking the request but, there is nothing on IP blocking or whatever. I do not have .htaccess file on.

A 403 error is thrown when the secret key is wrong or frontend backups are not enabled.
Can you please double check these settings?

I doubled checked the password before opening this ticket, but typed the same password. Now, based on you affirmative, I changed to a simple password and it worked OK.

I cannot believe I wrote a ticket about password! Sorry for that.

Went back to the old password and is working fine.

So that you know for future reference, I typed the frontend command directly on Firefox, running on Mac OX 10.7.5 and it processed the request. It takes a while to respond but completed backup and gave me 200 OK at the end. On larger sites the client-browser reached time-out but the server completed the backup.

Thanks a lot for the help
