Description of my issue: When I try to update to latest version from inside component, I receive the following error:Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration



My temp file is writable. I read your troubleshooter but am unable to try alternate upgrade methods because when I go to my install extensions page it comes up blank. I'm not sure if the two issues are related.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Brian,

The two issues are sort of related. The blank Extension Manager page is caused by an outdated plugin. If you disable the System - System restore points plugin, you will get your Extension Manager back. The plugin works as expected in the 3.10.1 version, so you can re-enable it after the upgrade.

In the Live Update, you are not getting quite the right error message for this, but we've seen some variety from different hosts. With our site upgrade on December 25, all of the Download IDs changed. You can read more about the issue here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1537-new-site-and-changes-in-dlid.html. Note that after you update your Download ID, you must click the Refresh button on the update page. If you don't refresh, it won't work.
