Description of my issue:

(minor, although a wee bit annoying <smile>)

I'm still getting multiple automatic update emails (7 at last count) for my site. I'm actually getting this for more than one site as well, but for this issue, I'm only mentioning one website.

I recall that this was mentioned as fixed in a previous release, and for most sites, I've gone in and selected a single super admin to receive update emails, etc.

On this site (hymla.com), there are 3 super admins. I am getting multiple emails to a single email account. Times of receiving (local to India at +5.5 UTC) 8:39 am 8:44, 9:01 9:14 9:21 9:44 10:40.

Two of those admins ultimately end up in my email account, but I would have expected two emails in that case.

Akeeba Backup Update Check plugin is active and "Super Admin email" field is blank.

And, by the way even after putting in new download ID, it still fails auto update to 3.10. (I've read your response to another that this should be fixed in 3.10, but I also read another response saying it only needed an update to the download ID. So, I thought I'd mention that updating the download ID by itself didn't fix the auto update in 3.9.2

I was also surprised that I didn't get any emails about the download ID change.

I looked at the source of the emails, and they are all going to my primary email account, not one to primary and one to secondary account (which auto fetches via gmail into my primary gmail account).

That doesn't clear anything up, unfortunately. I thought roughly half of them would have been to my other account and then fetched into my primary account.

Hello Stephan,

let's solve one problem at once.
  1. Can you please past here the content of the email? You could receive that mails for several reasons
  2. Regarding the Download ID, after changing it you have to force LiveUpdate to refecth the info. In this way it will update the stored Download ID

Please send me an email and I will attach source of first 3 emails so you can see and compare what I'm getting.

Or, change this to a private ticket (which I'd prefer to avoid, so others might be helped).

The beginning of each email is the same, of course, but the generated keys are all different, and the actual mail ID's (looking at the source) are all different too.

I'm not sure what other email type you were expecting. I thought there was just one "Akeeba Backup Update is available" email format.

I did do the refresh update. Doesn't matter, since I uploaded a full copy and did an external install.

I thought I had said, but apparently not (sorry about that). I went ahead and installed manually by uploading. Otherwise, in the past, I have continued getting emails.

On another site, which I haven't updated, I have NOT continued getting emails past a batch of four, all at 10:48am here (which is still more that I should have gotten).

tabletguy
Urgent!

I woke up this morning to find that I have several hundred emails all from hymla.com (the site I was talking about above), about a Joomla update. Since I also have several sites, you can do the math.

Beginning of that email: (and there's a small typo in the email as well)

Ok, not that it's too relevant, but I had 511 emails that I had to delete. I was getting more of them even while running the Joomla update. Ugh!

There are 3 components that can send updates: Joomla Update check, Admin Tools, and Akeeba.

Also, I hope that with multiple super-admins, that you're just sending email once, with all of them in the "To" address line at the same time?

I've got a number of other sites to get to quickly before I drown in emails.

tabletguy
One additional fact, if it might help.

I have 2 different live Joomla sites running under the same account, but with different domains. There are also 2 Wordpress domains under the same ISP account.

The last run of the plugin is set inside Joomla plugin parameters.
We just found out that sometimes, in some Joomla installations, these params aren't saved, causing the problem you reported.
I just started working on a fix, so for the moment I'd suggest you to disable the notification plugin, until we release a new version with the fix.

Please consider sending to all recipients (super admins) from one site in the same email, and all in the "TO" address line. That let's me see that all people were notified as well. And, it means only one physical email from the site.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion.
I'll see if that's possible to implement.
