I am unable to update Akeeba Backup from 3.9.1 to 3.9.2 on multiple sites. All sites are hosted by SiteGround, most on one Cloud1 account, although one is on a separate account.

In all cases - uploading using the Extension Manager, installing from a Directory, or using Akeeba's internal update function - the update fails.

When updating from an upload or dir. install using the extensions manager, the error is:

JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file

When updating from within Akeeba itself, the error is:

Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration.

I have verified my Akeeba ID, and also re-downloaded the ZIP file to make sure it is not corrupt.

I have a site that is not being used, if you'd like to log in and take a closer look.

With the new site roll out last week, all of the Download IDs changed. Please see this news article for further information: https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1537-new-site-and-changes-in-dlid.html.

New ID is in place, I did read up - I forgot to mention that part, sorry. :-)

dlb
Good job! :-)

When you click on the update button, you will need to refresh the update information before you try to install the update. You will see the update link change, then you can install the update.

OK - that worked. :-)

Would that also impact manually updating, via the Extension Manager and Install from Dir?

dlb
That would depend on the details. If you are installing from a dir and the dir is the download address of the component here on the site, I think it still requires a Download ID. The installation is not going to assume that you are logged in and would need the Download ID to verify that you have a valid license. If you have already downloaded the software and uploaded it to a folder on your site, it should be beyond the need for the ID.

I did a direct download from the website, and tried to update using that, which is where I got the "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file"

In either case, since I updated successfully using the internal updater, it's harder to reproduce this now... I just tried on a brand new site I made this morning, and it worked fine.

In any case, this issue can be closed - I can't seem to reproduce the issue at this point.

dlb
I'm glad it it working for you now.

Have a very happy new year!
