EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I have used akeeba backup for a long time, but unfortunately this time I have to use a server not of my choosing. I have installed the core version of akeeba rather than pro because I cannot get the pro version to install, despite increasing the file upload size limit.

I have tried reducing the part size. I have tried excluding non-essential directories, I have tried just backing up the database. I continue to get an internal server error.

The database is hosted on a different server from the php files. I have done that before and akeeba still runs, so I don't think that is the issue.

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Hi Libby,

looking at the log, I see this line:
ERROR |131119 08:54:53|The process was aborted on user's request

Did you aborted the backup?
Can you please try again and post here the last log?

I did not abort. I just get this screen:

Please see latest log.

I have a duplicate of this site on my own server and akeeba works fine. The site itself runs ok but slowly on the live server.

mhm... if you didn't touch anything, most likely the PHP configuration on your host is bad.
That's a strong indication that the server setup is screwed up.
