Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (unknown)
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: Core 3.8.2

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Have worked through Quick Start Guide but stuck at page 12 ! I am told to, '... just download the backup archive ...'.
But where to ? Do I create a folder on my PC desktop and move backup archive over ?
Also, do I move all the files, including .htaccess down to the bottom, as indicated at the top of page 12 ? (Mention is made '... to download all of the parts ...', in second line from bottom, but no mention is made of the other files.)

You can put the files anywhere on your local PC that makes sense to you. Where you store them is not important.

You should keep in mind that your local computer is a mechanical device, the question is not if it will fail, the quesiton is when.

"You can not have too many backups or have them stored in too many places." - Nicholas K. Dionysopoulos

The reference to downloading all the files refers to the .jpa, .j01, .j02, etc. files of a multi-part backup. The .htaccess file is not part of the backup and is not necessary. You may also see one or more log files in that folder that are not required to restore your site.
