Description of my issue:
Hi

I'm receiving so many update mails for all of my sites (about 15 sites).

All are on joomla 2.5.14 version with akeeba backup and admin tools. So i (and my clients!!) am receiving 10mails a day for 1 site in order to inform me that an update is there. Every day i'm receiving the same mail. So i disabled the update mail plugin. How to decide the frequency of these mails?

Thank you

Miran

Can you please paste here the content of one of those emails (without the domain name and update URL) so that I can help you?

Hi Nicholas

Hello,

An updated version of Admin Tools is available.
Version: 2.5.8
Release date: 2013-09-10
Stability: Stable

To install the update on [site name] please click the following link. (If the URL is not a link, simply copy & paste it to your browser.)

*** IMPORTANT NOTES ***
This one-time use link, valid for 24 hours, will automatically log you in to [SITENAME] and run Admin Tools's Live Update.

*** IMPORTANT NOTES ***
1. This email has been automaticaly sent by your web site.
2. To disable automatic notifications disable the 'System - Admin Tools Update Email' plugin in the Plugin Manager.

AkeebaBackup.com DOES NOT collect installed version information, share your personal or contact information, send out emails about new updates to its subscribers, have access to your website, know your Super Administrator username/password or know the domain name of your site.

You have received this email FROM SOFTWARE RUNNING ON YOUR OWN SITE because you activated this feature during Admin Tool's first run, by clicking on a check box with a clear explanation of how this feature works printed under it.

OK, I got confused previously because you posted in the Akeeba Backup category and you were talking about the Joomla! version. The email message you get is not related to either of these. It simply tells you that there is a new version of Admin Tools (2.5.8). Please upgrade to it on all of your sites.

I understand that

but i receive up to 10 identical mails for the same purpose for the same site in one day... And my clients also...

How to manage the frequency of these mails: one mail for a new version would be good. Not one mail/hour/site
I think it's a bug...

For one of my sites it was one mail each minute...

You can't change the frequency of the mails. They come in whenever Admin Tools polls for new updates. I really don't want you to run old versions with known issues. If you want to disable the updates the instructions are in the email itself. As you pasted above:

2. To disable automatic notifications disable the 'System - Admin Tools Update Email' plugin in the Plugin Manager.

ok

but as i said i can't do it, when i can't do the updates in the day, sometimes i have 1 mail an hour all the day long... Is this a known bug?

And sometimes the installer says me:
JInstaller: :Install: impossible de trouver un fichier d'initialisation XML

Thank you for your help

Normally the emails are sent every six hours per site. If they are sent more often it means that something is broken in your Admin Tools installation and you'd need to uninstall and reinstall the component, losing all your settings.

If the biggest problem is that your clients are seeing the update emails be advised that the 'System - Admin Tools Update Email' plugin has an option which allows you to specify which email address should be notified. By default it's empty and we notify all Super Users. If you only put your Super User account's email address in there you will be the only one receiving these emails.
