When I try installing the components com_akeeba-3.8.1-pro and com_admintools-2.5.8-pro on my Joomla 1.5.1 & 1.5.2 i get the error ' enter a package directory'

Considering that these versions of our software clearly require Joomla! 2.5 or later this comes as no surprise.
As a matter of fact, the last version which would support Joomla! 1.5.4 or earlier was all the way back in March 2009 and it was JoomlaPack 1.2.3. That was before we published the 2.x branch of JoomlaPack, which was before starting the Akeeba business and renaming the software to Akeeba Backup.
